YGL’s 2020 Inspired Leadership Development Program
The YGL Leadership Development Program is a 5-month program that utilizes a cohort model that will provide a supportive environment to develop targeted leadership skills. Participants will have the opportunity to cultivate professional multi-agency connections while engaging in the training sessions.
Program Overview
The YGL Leadership Development Program responds to a gap in the available leadership training for government professionals. It is offered through a competitive application process rather than through a financial investment on the part of the participant. The goal of our program is to prepare entry to mid-level (GS-11 and below) public servants to address the challenges of the federal government by developing new skills and fostering meaningful relationships.
Our 2019 cohort was surveyed to evaluate the program for improvements. As a result, we have improved our sessions to allow participants to have more time to learn new skills.
Based on the program survey:
- 88% of participants believed that this program met their leadership development needs and that their leadership development skills.
- 100% of the participants believe that this program provided them with the skills that can be applied to their current job.
- 100% of the participants recommended this program to other government employees and were satisfied with this program.

Application: The purpose of the application is to evaluate each participant based on their current skill level and leadership development needs. We strongly advice each applicant to answer the questions with honesty and to the best of their ability to ensure accuracy of each application. The application process will start on March 1st, 2020, the completion deadline is on April 6th, 2020. Participants will be notified of their selections NLT April 20th, 2020.
