Sehar Minhas

Sehar is a 2017 Presidential Management Fellow (PMF) with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Sehar is currently the Chief Relationship Officer (CRO) for Young Government Leaders (YGL), National Leadership Team (NLT). Previously, she served as the Co-Chief Events Officer for YGL’s NLT. She joined Young Government Leaders in October 2018.

In less than 1.5 years as a PMF, she has assisted two Senior Executive Service members (SESs) with presentations, data analyses, and office-wide communications. She has acquired Capitol Hill experience while working in the Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs, where she answered over 150 inquiries on various VA policies from Congressional Staff and attended meetings with VA Senior Staff and Congressional Members. She also worked in Congressional Research Service where she worked on a report on Physician Staffing and the Mission Act. She also answered numerous congressional inquiries from congressional staffers. Prior to becoming a PMF, she interned at the Women’s Center of Greater Lansing (Michigan), where she provided therapy services for an underserved and diverse population. Sehar also wrote an intercultural guidance handbook and onboarding document for interns and staff.

Sehar received her Masters in Social Work and a Bachelor of Science in Brain Behavior and Cognitive Science, minoring in Gender and Health, from the University of Michigan (UM). During her graduate studies as a teaching assistant, she taught a course on Intersectionality. Sehar also organized educational events such as an Islam Teach-In. During her undergraduate studies, she facilitated trainings on sexual assault and domestic violence at the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center. In her free time, Sehar enjoys trying new restaurants and activities around Washington, DC and spending time with her cat, Annalise Keating.
